Undoubtedly one of the most popular bronzing products of a generation, Benefit's Hoola has absolutely cemented its position as a makeup icon. The chocolately-rich tone seems to suit practically every complexion, helping to offer a gentle sunkissed glow all year round. Although I may dip in and out of bronzers from a multitude of brands, Hoola is always the one I inevitably run back to when I need to warm up my look or add a little glow. Cleverly capitalising on the success of this award-winning little brown box, Benefit have launched a whole Hoola collection that ensures you can looked naturally bronzed from top to toe with minimum fuss. Including 'Dew The Hoola' liquid matte bronzer and 'Zero Tanlines' body tint, as well as the most beautiful bronzing brush I've ever seen, together these lightweight gel formulas over an incredibly easy and natural way to add warmth as we step into spring.
Dew The Hoola (£22.50) is incredibly pigmented, so you do only need a little. The smoothing creamy-gel texture glides over the skin to leave it looking glowing without any glimmer; the sheerness keeps the look understated, but you can build up the colour result to achieve something a little more contoured. I do love powder bronzers, but this is a great alternative if you don't like to overload the skin - or simply like to keep your base quite dewy. It works really well with BB Creams and tinted moisturisers, making it perfect for beach days (or coffee dates!)
Hoola Zero Tanlines (£19.50) is the first body tanning product from Benefit, but it was definitely worth waiting for. The innovative bottle includes a screw-off cap that reveals a buffing sponge to keep hands absolutely product and mess free; you can squirt a small amount onto the surface and use this to directly buff product into skin, removing any worry about streaking or uneven colour. It does wash off at the end of the day though, meaning this is something you'd turn to when you need to reveal flesh last minute - rather than using it to create an all-over glow. It's perfect for the neck and decollatage.
The Hoola Bronzing & Contouring Brush (£17.50) features slightly domed bristles to delicately buff colour into the skin, without picking up too much pigment. It's definitely one to use with a powder product, and not with the new gel innovations, but it's perfect for adding subtle contours to the body or adding a touch of colour to where the sun naturally hits. Although I've got many other brushes that do the job a little bit better, the blue tips and golden bamboo handle make this totally lustworthy and a must-have for summer.
These are definitely seasonal products that I've no doubt will double in popularity during the summer months, but they also offer an alternative to those who don't really like to work with powders. I like how they buff into skin to leave a very subtle sheen, rather than overloading with colour, but for me that makes the two new innovations something I'll reach for during holiday season - rather than out of it. Dew The Hoola and Zero Tanlines are welcome range extensions for fans of the originals, while their affordable price points mean they'll undoubtedly attract new ones too. Hoorah for Hoola-days!
