Love them or loathe them, there's no denying that the Kardashian clan are the ultimate hair icons of our modern age. Adorned with thick, glossy and perfectly coiffed manes, over the last five years they've taken the world by storm one good hair day at a time - so it was no surprise when they announced the launch of their very own haircare range to the US back in 2014. Focused entirely on hair and featuring products to smooth, protect, mould and hold, the range is enriched with the deliciously scented black-seed oil to bring life to dull, damaged locks. The slick, elegant and simplistic packaging would definitely not look out of place on a Kardashian dressing table, so it's great to see them create a brand to be proud of and (according to sources) genuinely use. With prices ranging from £9.50-£11.50, the seven-piece collection is incredibly affordable and has apparently built up a 'cult following' overseas... But are the products worthy of the hype we're seeing online? I've been putting them to the test, and I can honestly say these are some cracking hair saviours.

The hero of the range is undoubtedly the Black Seed Dry Oil (£11.50,) a hair treatment and styling aid that's rich in nutrients to rejuvenate and nourish. The formula is smells divine, is lightweight enough for even my fine hair, absorbs quickly, doesn't leave any lingering residue and helps to smooth pesky flyaways almost instantaneously. You can add this to wet hair for a smoother finish as you blowdry, touch-up ends and curls after styling, or massage a little into dry ends for a more intense treatment. Although there's nothing revolutionary about this, it's a great little product that has universal appeal - plus it's the basis of the rest of the range too. Each one of the products is enriched with a little black-seed oil to help us all achieve Kardashian-worthy shine.
If you like to make the most out of your natural texture, or style your hair into waves from wet, then the Twirl Me Curl Defining Cream-Gel (£9.95) could be for you. The lightweight styling cream aims to keep hair in curls for longer, without drying it out or causing crunchiness; although I'm not a fan of my natural waves, I have used this a couple of times when creating more definition and it works well. There's no heaviness in the hair, plus it helps to keep my style without the need for tonnes of additional spray. In addition, the Smooth Styler Blow Dry Cream (£9.50) helps protect, add moisture, eliminate frizz and tame flyaways; it's a good product to add to your repertoire, regardless of style, if you don't like adding too much into your routine. Although I personally prefer to add more targeted creams, sprays and oils, you can't go wrong with a touch of this lightweight and workable balm. If you want to go all out there are also a couple of paddle and bristle brushes to help style (from £6.50) that are pretty great quality for their price points.
I haven't tried the K-Body Volume Foam (£11.50) myself as it reminds me too much of my crunchy 90's curls, nor do I have a sample of the Pure Glitz Hair Spray (£10.95) to test, but the Take 2 Dry Shampoo (£9.95) is a great alternative to a lot of the heavy, chalky formulas we have stashed in our beauty cupboards. It effectively eliminates excess oils and impurities that weigh hair down in between washes, but also provides a little lift to freshly washed hair too; I've been using it as a subtle root-boost in the mornings, pairing with the Take 2 Dry Conditioner (£9.95) on my mids and ends. The conditioning spray adds shine and moisture to dull or dry hair, leaving it gorgeously smooth and touchably soft; it's great on 'day two' hair when you feel like it's lost its lustre, but is equally good on freshly washed hair to help hydrate and add shine.
So many celebrity collaborations and endorsements don't go any deeper than the rather large cheque they receive for participating in the process, but it does appear that the Kardashian sisters have been involved in creating a range that genuinely stands up against much more expensive alternatives. (I could easily compare this to Tamara Ecclestone's SHOW Beauty hair products that will set you back upwards of £30.00 each.) The products are packaged beautifully, they smell divine, there's a genuine purpose for every single SKU, they perform well and above all they're affordable. It's clear the girls wanted their fans and beauty enthusiasts alike to be able to buy into this brand - and they've done a really rather stirling job. For me, the heroes are the Black Seed Dry Oil and Take 2 Dry Conditioner (a big trend for 2016;) every woman who wants to create shine, effortless movement and envy amongst their friends needs to get online and order them right now. Who doesn't want a Kardashian hair day every day?
