It's amazing the detrimental effect a bad hair day can have on your confidence; what's going on upstairs can have a huge impact on the rest of your day if it's not quite behaving in the way you'd like. As someone who's been woefully unhappy with their god-given barnet for as long as I can remember, I've always been utterly obsessed with hair products; to me it's a way to tame the mane and ensure it's looking stylishly messy, rather than embarrassingly frizzy. Wet styling products are the first step towards a glossy, controlled look (take a look at my current three faves here,) but finishing products are the key to achieving a frizz-free yet texturized look that makes you feel like you've just stepped off a catwalk. Although I try piles of products over the course of a year, here are the five that I'm currently loving so much I just had to share them with you...

1. TIGI JoyRide (£10.15)
This may look more like a deodorant than a hair product, but inside this bright pink tub is a velvety smooth gel that's described as 'the world's first powder primer balm for hair.' When used before other stlyling products, JoyRide primes the hair while adding texture and grip; when used as a finishing product, the lightweight product helps to create understated texture while ensuring those frizzy ends are kept under control. You may be tempted to use this on wet hair - but don't! This can be incredibly effective if you use it right, but make sure you read the instructions first.
2. TIGI Camera Ready (£9.90)
Shine sprays were my holy grail back in the early 2000's, so it's ace to see them having a little bit of a resurgance. There's nothing quite like a spritz of a lightweight glossing spray to finish a look, add a touch of shine and keep flyaways under control. This is totally non-greasy, meaning it will help create effortless shine that doesn't look like you've dumped your head in a chip fryer come the end of the day.
3. Batiste Texturizing Spray (£4.49)
Who knew Batiste would rekindle a lost love inside of me in 2015? I've become a bit bored with the brand over the last couple years, but their new Stylist range ticked all my boxes and more. (Read my original review here.) This spray is fabulous for adding oomph and structure to waves and curls that lasts all day; it's perfect to create that slightly 'undone' second-day hair, even when you've only just blowdried. If there's one product I reach for on almost a daily basis, then it's this.
4. CoLab Glossing Hair Fragrance (£4.99)
If you want a touch of shine, but don't want to overload your hair, then this is a great affordable alternative to a traditional glossing spray. It's beautifully scented, incredibly lightweight and a pleasure to use; infused with a nourishing blend of precious oils, silk extracts and shimmering diamond dust (ooh err!) this is a touch of affordable luxury. If it's good enough for Ruth Crilly!
5. Redken Wind Blown (£13.60)
Hairsprays don't have to turn your hair to stone. A great 'working spray' is the best approach when you're creating texture and volume, but want a touch of hold too - and this mild control hairspray helps to do just that. With a flexible finish so you can re-mould and change it up as you go, the hairspray helps to keep your look in place for hours on end. The only thing I notice is that hair can start to look quite dull after a few hours, so it may be worth spritzing with a little shine spray to refresh your look.
