The desire for dry shampoo is gathering pace like nothing else, being responsible for the growth in not only the 'shampoo' category, but the overall hair market too. For years Batiste was the main player in an industry that re-branded itself from a bottom-of-the-shelf products saved for greasy hair days, to a staple of any beauty wardrobe that’s used more as a hair styling aid than festival essential. Although I love a bit of Batiste (especially it’s £3.00 price tag,) the build-up can cause the scalp to become itchy and inflamed if it’s not used in the correct way. If you’re worried about aggravating a sensitive scalp, have a preference for more natural ingredients, or simply want to shake things up a bit, then I’ve handpicked three dry shampoo alternatives that will leave your hair looking and feeling super fresh. They may be a bit pricey in comparison to your usual can, but it’s good to have options right?

1. Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo (£22.00)
Aveda are one of the most popular brands for those seeking a more natural alternative, so it was only a matter of time before they launched their own incarnation of a dry shampoo. This new Shampure dry shampoo is a 99.8% naturally-derived non-aerosol powder mist that instantly revives and refreshes hair; natural powders absorb excess oils and impurities, leaving a revived result without the residue. The rather unusual pump works by actually squeezing the bottle, meaning it does take some getting used to and isn't the most precise of tools - but it does remove the need for potentially damaging gases and is totally practical for on the go; I love the mini bottle for popping in my bag if I need a little pick-me-up. Also available is a refill bottle (without the pump, priced £18.00) to reduce wastage and offer a saving too.
2. Davines Hair Refresher Dry Cleansing Mist (£17.65)
Natural ingredients including natural rice powder (which has great moisturising and absorbing properties,) make this a fab alternative for refreshing second-day hair. The formula also features a 'Smell Capturing Molecule' to capture and neutralize bad odours, especially those deriving from fatty substances, to leave your hair smelling freshly washed too. The mist is incredibly fine and lightweight, but still is extremely effective at absorbing grease and leaving hair feeling refreshed. The only downside is that you have to swing by a hairdresser or Liberty's to pick one up.
3. Tints Of Nature Dry Shampoo (£12.95)
Although this is in one of the ugliest bottles I've seen in a while, it's really quite practical - the specially designed, non-aerosol eco pump with directional nozzle, dispenses just the right amount of product to leave your hair feeling soft, smooth and manageable. You can place the nozzle exactly where you need it, reducing wastage and ensuring you don't cover yourself in white powder while half asleep. The lightweight blend of natural and organic ingredients gently absorbs excess oil, leaving hair feeling refreshed and manageable without the heavy residue that's often associated with dry shampoos. What's even better is the mini bottle that actually contains over 100 applications - perfect as a handbag essential or travel companion.
