Celebrity and designer fragrances are ten a penny, but occasionally one pops up that leaves me both intrigued and excited. Miu Miu, the little sister of Prada, has come into its own in recent years thanks to its fresh style and innovative design; unlike it's sister brand that's considered and structured, Miu Miu is a firm favourite amongst Asian customers in particular because of its playful shapes and bold colours. (Although it's growing in popularity in the UK too, despite the price tag!) There's definitely a hint of the Japanese about its design, which definitely translates into the striking bottle of its debut scent. I wasn't sure what to expect from a brand that always reinvents the wheel, but suffice to say the result is a modern twist on a classic scent you may recognise.

The top notes of Lily of the Valley instantly transport me back to my childhood, providing a comforting scent that seems somewhat familiar. The green heart notes of Jasmine Rose Absolute build upon the freshness, while the slightly woody Akigalawood (an extract of patchouli) gives it a striking base which prevents the whole fragrance from being a little bit wishy-washy. Unsurprisingly, the result is somewhat surprising; I wasn't sure if I would like this but I actually really do. It's not at all sweet, not at all floral, just fresh, modern and perfect for the transitioning seasons; if you don't like your fragrances too overpowering, then this is well worth a spritz.
I adore the bottle (especially as it's not the girlie translucent design we're so used to seeing from designer brands,) and think it makes an incredibly stylish dressing table piece. It's like nothing I've ever seen before, which makes me want to high-five the design team... You may have also noticed the personalised engraving on the red disk; if you're popping by House of Fraser on Oxford Street in the next couple weeks then you can get yours personalised too, absolutely free of charge when you buy the scent. It's a great way to celebrate the launch of a fragrance that's undoubtedly to be referred to as a classic of the future.
Are you excited for the debut fragrance from Miu Miu?
