Batiste Styling Sprays: It's About Time They Upped Their Game & Offered Something New!

I would guarantee that 75% of the female population has at one stage in their life used a bottle of Batiste dry shampoo. The white powdery spray soaks up excess oil and grease, offering a great alternative when you just don't have time to wash, dry and style your hair; however, we've all become a little to reliant on it and it's started to cause more problems than it solves. (Read my 'truth about dry shampoo' post here for the full lowdown.) For a long time I've felt that Batiste needed to evolve in order to keep their share of the market (when every hair brand imaginable is launching their own version, a new scent really isn't enough) and it's taken them some time to realise this too. Their new styling range, simply called 'Stylist', offers a portfolio of products that capitalise on our need for speed and convenience - whilst understanding that we've been using dry shampoo as a texturising product for years! Finally, Batiste are upping their game.

Including a Frizz Tamer, XXL Plumping Powder, Hairspray, Texturizing Spray, Heat & Shine Spray and an XXL Volume Spray, Batiste are at last becoming the brand I always knew they could be. Dry shampoos have never just been about skipping a hair wash (they add volume, texture and hold on even the cleanest of 'dos,) so it seems only right that Batiste isn't just about dry shampoo either. My favourites from the range include the Heat & Shine Spray which offers protection from styling tools without weighing hair down, as well as the Texturizing Spray which provides an invisible 'bed head' matte texture when you just don't want to look all polished and preened; it's great on tousled hair or second day curls.

Although the hairsprays are pretty standard, the plumping powder has been done before, and the Frizz Tamer doesn't exactly offer the twelve hours protection it claims to, at £4.49 each you can't go wrong. The important thing for me is that the textures of all the products are much lighter and totally invisible post-application; I've been waiting for a more useable texture from them for years! I'm excited for the next stage in the Batiste life cycle, knowing they have so much more to offer than a heavy white powder that leaves a clammy feeling on your fingers. Watch this space...

What do you think of this new Batiste Stylist range of hair products? Were you also bored of the heavy dry shampoos and endless new scents that they've been offering?
