Colour correction has long been the tool of professional makeup artists; they rely on more than a heavyweight foundation and hard working concealer to create the flawless looks you see walking the red carpet. Our complexions aren't even and they're not made up of a singular colour: dullness, dark circles, redness and sallow skin can be the result of anything from a bad diet and irregular sleep pattern, to skin conditions and adult acne. Counteracting those tones can help create a much more even and 'fluid' complexion that creates the illusion of health, ensuring you get much more out of your base products too. I dip in and out of colour correction, but this little palette from Makeup Revolution has definitely encouraged me to embrace it once again. The lightweight creamy textures are easy to use, while offering exceptional value for money.

Containing eight different shades to offer a solution to every skin colour concern, the palette is as 'professional' as Makeup Revolution have gotten to date. Considering the £6.00 price tag and eight different shades, it offers incredible value that you really can't sniff at. I often find a lot of the 'creamy' products from cheaper brands are really greasy and hard to work with, but these all apply to skin well and transform into a matte cream texture within seconds. They offer subtle correction without overloading the skin with an obscure shade (you won't end up with green tinted skin!) making them perfect for use almost daily - particularly under a heavy makeup look when you'll really get the most out of their performance.
In terms of the shades included: pink brightens, violet neutralises yellow tones, green neutralises redness, orange neutralises blue tones, peach helps to balance out slight discolouration, white adds natural highlight and brightens, yellow neutralises purple and covers dark areas, while brown balances ashiness in medium to dark skin tones. Not all colours will be suited to every complexion, but it's about using the right tones for you; I've been using the creamy yellow under my eyes, the violet shade on my cheeks to brighten, green on my nose and chin to counteract redness and a touch of highlighter to brighten. Applying them over your base and before anything else will help even out any discolouration, meaning you need less concealer and can focus on a touch of contouring instead.
Although I don't have the time or inclination to use these on a daily basis, they do offer a great and affordable way to perfect my look when the need is there. You may not even need to use these continually either - reaching for them on days when you're lacking sleep, recovering from a big spot or simply need a little boost. I've got a tonne of colour correction products floating around from various different brands, but this palette definitely compares in terms or quality and effect; if you're new to colour correcting then this is a great way to experiment and get to know the benefits it can bring... Without breaking the bank.
