QVC Launches ’Find a Beauty Brand’ And Needs Your Help... (What An Opportunity!)

Some of the best beauty products come from relatively unknown brands that just need a push in the right direction. I often feature brand new concepts, angles and businesses that I believe in on LBQ - from the Helmies nail helmets which stop those annoying post-paint smudges, to The Bathory which allows you to create your own bath salt prescription, or even candles with secret jewellery surprises! There's so much talent, wisdom and efficacy out there that's just not able to get the stepping stone they so obviously need to get them into the 'big time'. However, help is at hand! Following the huge success of the inaugural competition last year, QVC is one again running its 'Find a Beauty Brand' competition, in association with CEW. This incredible opportunity provides a platform for one awesome brand to get the recognition and support they deserve - and we need your help to get them nominated!

QVC UK is a world-class retailer and the largest TV shopping channel in Britain; with three further standalone TV channels and an interactive website which incorporates live streaming of the TV channels, it offers a wide variety of brand name products in not only beauty and fashion, but home, leisure, electronics, garden and DIY.  The main TV channel (which is available to approximately 27 million homes,) broadcasts 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Over 15 million items are delivered every year, and with an offering of over 200 beauty brands and 100s of exclusive products and offers, QVC really is the one stop shop for the beauty addicts among us. If you tune in to Alison Young's weekly beauty edit you'll be treated to live demos, her invaluable advice and industry secrets that will have you looking fabulous in no time at all. Elemis, Decleor and Liz Earle wouldn't have hit the high street or been in any way as popular as they are without the QVC launch platform, so the proof really is in the pudding - this is an amazing opportunity that could change someone's life.

So what will the winner scoop? The winning brand will bypass the lengthy selection process and join the prestigious line-up of beauty available at QVC, as well as being mentored by their beauty buyers and members of the CEW team to ensure their success. The chosen brand will have the full support of the UK team, a presence at the renowned Beauty Bash customer event (which will host 5,000 top-spending beauty customers) as well as being launched on the channel to inevitable rapturous applause and tonnes of sales! The prize also includes one year’s membership to CEW and promotion across the CEW network, with the opportunity to hold a mentoring event to help nurture other new brands in the market. Essentially, it's the platform, contacts and support that could make the world of difference to a brand that really offers their customers something special.

Kate James, Head of Beauty Buying at QVC UK, comments:“We're all really looking forward to 2015’s competition as there were so many wonderful entries, from the whole range of beauty, in 2014. Soapsmith, last year’s winner, hit the mark with our huge audience of savvy beauty customers. We're confident we'll find a newcomer to join the well-established brands and the niche, upcoming companies, such as Sarah Chapman and James Read, already with us.”

Caroline Neville, President of CEW(UK) says: “This collaboration between two industry powerhouses – QVC and CEW – will ignite so much creativity and excitement in the world of beauty. Both QVC and CEW, in their own special ways, nurture brands, recognise brilliance and help shape the future of beauty. We hope this competition will discover another truly special brand.”

So how do you enter? If you know a brand that think would be brilliant for this, then you need to set them some homework. If you're a brand that would love such an incredible opportunity, then you've got some forms to fill in... All you have to do is enter all the relevant details here by 14th August and pop a sample of your products in the post. I can't stress enough how much of an incredible opportunity this is for anyone who is looking for the next big step, or could do with a heap of additional free exposure on the UK's biggest shopping channel. Last year's winner was Soapsmith, a brand that creates the finest handcrafted soaps, bath and body products with bold and evocative scents which capture the essence of London. Each of the nine scents is named after one of London’s more characterful streets and is custom blended to translate that character into a real treat for the senses. (Find out more about Soapsmith here.) They've experienced huge success since scooping the inaugral prize, so what are you waiting for? Get nominating!
