NEW Bare Minerals 'Blemish Remedy' Mineral Foundation: A Targeted Twist On A Classic

Mineral foudnations definitely had a moment a few years ago, but since then I feel like they've been pushed aside in favour of innovative liquid counterparts. With technology providing lightweight finishes and textures that provide the coverage we need without blocking pores, mineral foundation became a somewhat redundant addition to many repertoires. However, with the launch of Bare Minerals new Blemish Remedy foundation the focus is very much on their original and loved formula - with an added twist. Created in ten different shades with the original finely milled powder as a base, this has been created to soothe, calm and control problem or oily skin while simultaneously providing a flawless finish. Although it's great for all skin types, it's specifically beneficial to those of you who may suffer from annoying pimples or regular breakouts.

As with the original formula, it's non-drying and won't block pores, plus the inclusion of Aspen Bark and Tea Tree Oil help promote healthy skin while tackling annoying blemishes. Essentially this is the same product we've collectively been loving for decades, just with added ingredients to make the experience even better for those with problematic skin or breakouts. Although the original formula is great for those suffering with acne or pimples (thanks to the natural ingredients that work with, rather than against, the skin) this just specifically targets the annoying bacteria that can cause problems. Partnered with the new incarnation formula is a brand new pack design, featuring a 'spring' that both prevents too much product from coming out of the pack and avoids contamination. Half of the issue with pimples is bacteria being transferred back into a product, so this helps to keep that to a minimum while ensuring you get the most value from the product - wastage is much reduced from the traditional packs I've been using for years.

Bare Minerals have also invested in a clinical trial to see the impact of this new product over a six week period: of 102 women tested, 100% experienced a significant reduction in skin oil and 92% saw a significant reduction in the appearance of pore size. (Notably no reference to reduction of pimples though...) I'm lucky enough to not really suffer from breakouts or large pores so I can't put those claims to the test, but I do think this would be a great daily product for women who want to cover their skin issues without making them worse. In my opinion this definitely replaces the original formula (there's just no need for both when this is essentially an improved version,) so it will be interesting to see what they do with the core range over the coming months. If you haven't tried Bare Minerals' mineral foundations before, then they're well worth a trial - pop along to any counter and have them give you a 'make-under' so you can see the results for yourself.

Are you tempted by this new generation mineral foundation? Are you a fan of the original?
