One of the things I get asked the most on social media, is 'can you give me some really great concealer recommendations for dark circles?' Let's face it, no matter how cleanly we try to live (early nights, lots of skincare, minimal alcohol and cutting down on sweet treats) we're always battling with those dark areas under our eyes. As we age the skin around the eye becomes even thinner, allowing the blood-flow underneath to show through more prominently; paired with dehydration and a bad nights sleep, the problem becomes pretty astronomical. I've always been a bit of a concealer addict, even as a student spending £18.00 on my favourite product and eating toasties for the rest of the month as a consequence. I go through a lot of products trying to find the best of the best, but many concealers don't live up to expectations or provide the coverage I require - however, this edit includes some of my favourite ever formulas (with a couple of new discoveries thrown in for good measure) that will help you cover imperfections and provide you with confidence.

1. Amazing Cosmetics 'Amazing Concealer' (£19.50)
This does what it says on the tin (or tube,) because it's pretty darn amazing. The thick and creamy texture provides an incredible amount of colour and coverage when applied to the skin, blending perfectly when buffed in with a little brush to airbrush away imperfections. When I'm seriously feeling tired this is one product I reach to every single time; without fail it helps to cover those dark patches and make me look wide awake. You need such a small amount for each application too, meaning the price point is more than justified for a huge supply of product.
2. Bare Minerals 'Stroke Of Light' (£22.00)
A mix between a concealer and highlighter, Bare Minerals' concoction really does add a touch of light around the eyes. I tend to use this on more 'awake' days just to colour correct, or along the crease of my under eye area to reflect the light and give the illusion of a more youthful complexion. Because it's super lightweight, you can easily use this in conjunction with other products and top up throughout the day, without the fear of caking. I've gone through about five tubes of this stuff and continually recommend it to friends, so it's well worth a purchase.
3. Clinique 'Even Better Concealer' (£18.00)
Possibly my all-time favourite concealer, this has added skincare benefits to help reduce the appearance of imperfections over time. It's quite thick, but it blends really well and offers some serious covering power, making it a go-to product I couldn't be without. I've had this within my reportoire for a number of years since it first launched, replacing a previous concealer from Clinique I adorned - word on the street has it that they're planning to discontinue this, so stock up while you still can!
4. Clarins 'Instant Concealer' (£21.50)
Another product that's fabulous for 'good eye days' but equally as handy on 'could've done better days' in partnership with other products, the lightweight formula helps to reflect the light away from dark areas to give the illusion of a fresher complexion. It doesn't 'conceal' or colour correct as such, but it's a fabulous product to carry with you and works brilliantly with BB creams.
5. Kiko 'Dark Circle Tone Eraser' (£8.90)
A little pump full of colour correcting greatness, again this isn't a concealer per se - but it definitely helps to correct dark areas under the eye so you can build your makeup over the surface. It's available in two different tones, with this more yellow shade helping to correct grey and blue tones beneath the eye. The texture is very lightweight and creamy, blending into the surface of skin without sitting in fine lines and making the situation worse. It's not something I reach for every day, but since picking it up a few weeks ago it's definitely been a helping hand.
6. Seventeen 'Phwoarr Paint' (£5.49)
My ultimate budget buy, this is about the fourth pot I've gone through since it launched. It's very simialr to the Clinique concealer above that I adore so much, but a fraction of the cost. The texture is thick but creamy, helping to blend away discolouration and even cover pimples well. Although it may not be suited to those with heavy lines or dry skin, it's a great all-rounder that really can't be sniffed at. If you thought Seventeen was only for teenagers, think again!
7. Delilah 'Farewell Cream Concealer' (£24.00)
One of my new favourties, Delilah as a brand offer the most beautiful cosmetics that have clearly been developed with passion. This chunky crayon provides a creamy but very lightweight and blendable texture, making it a great tool to use even if you're starting to see fine lines. It doesn't overload the area or cake throughout the day, nor is it too heavy for use alone or with a BB cream. Even featuring hydrating and antioxidant ingredients to leave skin feeling fab, it's available in six different shades so you can get your perfect match. After a number of weeks I've barely made a dent in the product, showing it lasts an absolute age too.
