InStyle Best Beauty Buys 2015: More Than Just Another Magazine Award?

InStyle magazine have finally revealed the winners of their 2015 Best Beauty Buys Awards, which includes over one hundred winning products across skincare, makeup, body and hair. Magazines have a long-standing history with handing out awards (mostly for their own agendas that include recognising advertisers or brands that took them to exotic locations,) but the InStyle Best Beauty Buys are a little bit different - the winning products are voted by over one hundred industry professionals that genuinely try, love and covet the items in question. Across the categories it's great to see some of my most loved secrets, cult classics, up-and-coming brands and new launches that will set the world alight; I usually roll my eyes at the 'winning' products features in many magazines, but this list is genuinely an indication of what's worth checking out over the next year.

Although MAC scooped eight awards (including best red lip shade for cult classic Ruby Woo,) Lancôme’s Hypnôse won the coveted best mascara award while Bobbi Brown was commended for their Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner. Laura Mercier's primer is a great lightweight solution that helps keep makeup looking flawless, so it's no surprise it was voted a firm favourite, while Bare Minerals knocked all competition out of the water when it came to mineral foundations.

Clarins picked up four awards, including nods for their Double Serum and Blue Orchid Facial Oil, while Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser was recognised as still being a must-have for an evening cleanse. Origins are definitely becoming a staple within my routine, so I'm definitely putting their No Puffery eye gel to the test after it's award win for 'best eye de-puffer' - it apparently reduces signs of fatigue while instantly cooling eyes!

Another bathroom staple of mine from Aromatherapy Associates won best bath oil (Deep Relax), while Ren's Moroccan Rose Otto Body Wash scooped the best shower gel award - slightly indulgent, but the scent alone makes it a fab buy. In the hair cetagory Batiste retained their title as best dry shampoo, while Tigi and Bumble & Bumble picked up awards for volumising and de-frizzing.

It's great to see some affordable brands in the winning lineup, including MaxFactor's Masterpiece mascara, Bioderma's micellar water, Nivea's suncare range, Rimmel's Lasting Finish nail polish and L'Oreal's True Match foundation, as well as some less known brands that include Becca, Oribe and Balance Me. You can see all the winners in a supplement with this month's issue, which gives you a real edit of products that are worth trying - or rediscovering if they used to be firm favourites.

With the 105 person strong judging panel (filled to the brim with experts including Caroline Barnes, Liz Earle, Ruby Hammer, Daniel Hersheson, Cassie Lomas, Philip Kingsley, James Read, Kenneth Soh and Charlotte Tilbury) you know they've picked a fab selection of products you can believe in. Flicking through the pages I definitely agree with many of the award winners, while others leave me desperate to give them a whirl. The important thing for me is that these awards are voted for by people that know their stuff and use the products on a daily basis; that's something you can trust.

Are you a fan of any of the InStyle award winners, or will you be picking any up this spring?

NB: This isn't a sponsored post! I was sent a hamper of products to celebrate the awards and just thought it was worth sharing the edit of products chosen for their efficacy, rather than how much money they're spending on advertising or fancy press trips.
