Going Dotty For It: Bare Minerals 'Modern Pop' Spring 2015 Collection

I love it when brands you think you've filed away in a certain box push the boundaries and create something you never expected. This forthcoming season Bare Minerals have done just that, with this gorgeous 'Modern Pop' collection that puts a feminine twist on something traditionally quite bold. Described as "beauty with a carefree spirit and effortless appeal," the collection is instantly recogniseable thanks to it's silver packaging with simple embossed dots. Featuring an eyeshadow palette, lipstick duo, mascara, liner and innovative lip topcoat, all the products are wearable and perfectly timed to take us out of the dark winter shades and into the spring season with ease.

Undoubtedly the core of the range, the four-piece eyeshadow set contains shades that are perfect for daytime or for creating an understated look for the evening. I love a pale or pastel shade as a base, with simple winged liner drawn over the top for a retro feel - the cream, lilac and pink tones provide wearable shades while still nodding to the traditional pastel shades we usually see in spring. To complement the eyeshadows a 'Classic Cream' Lasting Liner offers a wide-awake look when applied to the inner corners and upon the lash line. White and cream liners are definitely a staple within my collection, providing a helping hand when you're feeling sleepy (read my post on why here!) but they're often hard to find; it's great to see Bare Minerals identifying the need and offering a new shade as part of their best selling liner range.

In addition, the lipsticks are utterly fabulous and not what you'd expect from a spring collection at all. Orange and peach shades have been somewhat reserved for the summer months in previous years, but there's no reason at all you can't wear them all year round and embrace the brightness when you need it the most. I'm a huge fan of Bare Minerals' Moxie lipsticks already (they provide hydration, comfort and longevity in one bullet) so it's great to see some fun shades that can perk up my spring look. They're not too bold or strong enough to overwhelm your face, but just provide a touch of warmth to an otherwise understated look.

The Lash Domination mascara is also a great product, having been a staple within my mascara repertoire for months; it provides a great amount of volume and a touch of length without glooping or causing lashes to stick together. As part of 'Modern Pop' the mascara package has been given a little makeover, but it's still the same great formula underneath. Finally, the innovative 'Top Coat Creme' is a clear formula that can be used over the top of lipstick or on naked lips to offer both comfort and shine, as well as ensuring the colour of your lipstick stays vibrant for longer. The texture is like a non-gloopy lipgloss with a touch of balm, offering lips an alternative if you're concerned with dryness; I've not seen anything like this before and it's certainly an interesting concept - but how much I'll use this in the long-term is up for debate.

Overall this collection is the best I've seen from Bare Minerals in a long time. I adore the simple, elegant, chic but retro packs, as well as the wearable shades that will integrate into any makeup routine with ease. The cream liner is a genius move (I fear I'll be mourning the loss of this when it's gone, as this collection is only limited edition - sob) and the lipstick shades provide a great alternative this spring. Bare Minerals have huge things in store for us this year, so it's great to see such a kick-ass start from a brand I love so much. What do you think of this 'Modern Pop' collection?
