Perfecting the ultimate flutter is an essential step in getting party ready. I don't feel prepared to party if I don't have a powerful lashline that complements the rest of my look. A someone who doesn't have the best set of lashes, a fabulous mascara is the ultimate tool in my kit. I've tried hundreds in my time as a beauty blogger, so if I keep one by my side for longer than a week it's definitely a goodun. Right now I have three favourites on rotation that take me right through from day to night with ease; they all provide me with the volume and impact I desire, whilst being easy to apply and long-lasting. They help me create an amazing flutter that's perfect for the party season when we don't want our glittery dresses to overshadow our sultry eyes... Too much at least!
1. Clinique High Impact Mascara (£17.50)
My current favourite for day or night, the lightweight formula captures practically every lash and fans lashes to create volume. You can really build up the product and manipulate lashes, ensuring a 'false lash' effect without the need for actual false lashes. It's perfect for accompanying a smokey look, creating impact without overwhelming the eye. A great all-round product that's staying firmly placed in my makeup bag throughout the festive period.
2. Lancôme Grandiôse Mascara (£24.50)
Designed with a 'swan neck' to enable the brush to coat and elongate even the shortest and oddly placed of lashes, you can wiggle it about at the base and comb the product through for super volume. Although it doesn't create the best length, it's fabulous for volumising and ensuring lash impact - even by the most novice of beauty enthusiasts. The only thing to note is that it's quite easy to get mascara on your eyelid, so either be prepared to tidy up or ensure you're sporting a smokey shadow underneath that will hide the smudges!
3. Avon Volume Extravagance Mascara (£9.00)
A fabulous budget buy and part of their limited edition collection, this mascara provides great lift and separation paralleled with a touch a volume. It's easy to use, doesn't flake or smudge and helps to create impact - you do need quite a few layers (waiting for a few seconds between applications to ensure a dry base upon which to build,) but it's a great buy if you're saving all your money for mulled wine and mince pies.
